Alley – No, we do not have animals like bears & such here. But do keep your food secured as deer and ravens like to mooch off campers.
Visitor – Okay, I just wanted to make because my class is going on a field trip on May.

Visitor – Has there been any accidents there?
Alley – Yes, but considering the number of people that come every year they are few and far between.
Alley – Most injuries occur when people do things they were expressly warned NOT to do, such as try to hike to the bottom of the canyon and back in a day, pet the wildlife, etc.

Unfortunately, Fire Restrictions are in place already this year. It has been a very dry and hot year in Arizona:
Grand Canyon National Park and Kaibab National Forest have moved into Extreme Fire Danger.
RESTRICTIONS:
All wood burning AND charcoal fires, including campfires, warming fires and charcoal barbeques, are prohibited throughout the park except for the Colorado River corridor.
Visitors are reminded that in Grand Canyon National Park:
When hiking and camping below the rim, cookstoves may be used, but campfires are not allowed.
River users may only have campfires in elevated metal pans with a fire proof blanket underneath.
FIRES:
South Rim
Grand Fire: The Grand Fire remains at about 481 acres in size, is 100% contained, and is smoldering in ponderosa pine, grasses and some pinyon pine on both the Kaibab National Forest and Grand Canyon National Park near Grandview.
SMOKE may be visible at times. Visitors may also see fire equipment and personnel in the area. Drivers should continue to watch for and obey traffic control signs and personnel.

Hello.
We are planning to come stay at the Grand Canyon for a couple of days in August. However, we will be driving in a rent car from Las Vegas and don’t have camping equipment. Are there tents available to rent or do you have cabins to stay at?

What about snakes
Generally speaking you don’t need to worry about snakes. They do live in the Grand Canyon but they generally stay away from the populated areas.
