Tusayan Fire Department provides 24‑hour fire, rescue, and EMS coverage for Tusayan and the South Rim gateway area, responding to ~700 calls each year.
Created in 1996 at the request of Grand Canyon National Park, Tusayan Fire Department (officially the Tusayan Fire District) protects the town of Tusayan, the busy State Route 64 corridor, and portions of the South Rim. A minimum crew of three firefighters staffs the station daily, supported by a fleet that includes an engine, brush truck, ladder truck, reserve engine, and rescue unit. The department handles roughly 700 incidents per year, ranging from structure fires and wildland blazes to medical emergencies involving the park’s 6 million annual visitors. Although primarily an operational facility, the station welcomes pre‑arranged visits for safety information and community outreach.
Located on AZ‑64 in central Tusayan, 6 mi (10 km) south of Grand Canyon National Park’s South Entrance. Groome Transportation and park shuttle buses stop within a 5‑minute walk. Grand Canyon National Park Airport (GCN) is 1 mi south; taxis/rideshare available.
