Free of charge. There is a roughly made path of rocks to follow around the entire location. Fairly easy walk if you watch your footing. Take some water on a warm day. It may take an hour to walk around. Pictures will change depending on the time of day.
Great space. We haven’t been to the “real” wave for comparison, but this was a really fun spot. No signage for this spot but follow the google location and you’ll be fine. Free, no park ranger or gate and very few people so easy to take pics. A few trails marked by rocks. Just climb up to the spires and you’ll get great panoramas and close up of the sand erosion.
Absolutely amazing, magic place. You can spend hours hiking there and still find something interesting! Hidden gem!
Heavy gravel road to this parking spot. Once there, you can easily get stuck in sand if you have simple FWD car. But it is worth visiting and hiking up to the rocks and observe their formation. Words cannot describe the beauty of nature

Carved by wind and water in the Navajo Sandstone layer, The New Wave showcases undulating ridges, cross‑bedding and honey‑comb tafoni reminiscent of Coyote Buttes’ famous Wave—but without the strict permit cap. The looping footpath circles a low butte above Glen Canyon Dam, offering 360‑degree views toward Tower Butte, Navajo Mountain and the blue expanse of Lake Powell. Because the formation faces northeast, it glows at sunrise and remains evenly lit until mid‑afternoon, making it a favorite of photographers. The site sits on the boundary between Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and BLM land, so Leave No Trace ethics and portable toilets are required; no services are available on‑site.
Driving from Page: Cross Glen Canyon Dam on US‑89 N, continue 0.7 mi, turn left onto the gravel road signed “Beehive Campground.” Keep right at the fork; parking is at the northwest end of the campground.
