Why Visit Page Rim Trail Trailhead

The Page Rim Trail circles Manson Mesa above the city of Page, delivering an easy 10 mi / 16 km loop with constant views of Lake Powell, Glen Canyon Dam and the Vermilion Cliffs. Starting at the Page Sports Complex, the mostly level dirt track welcomes hikers, runners, cyclists and leashed dogs year‑round.

Highlights

360° Vistas of Lake Powell, Navajo Mountain & Grand Staircase‑Escalante.
Family‑Friendly Loop – < 200 ft total elevation gain.
Year‑Round Access with spectacular sunrise and sunset colors.

Description

Built by the City of Page as a community recreation path, the Rim Trail follows an old service road around the mesa rim at roughly 4,250 ft / 1,295 m. The 6–10 ft-wide surface of compacted dirt and fine gravel suits most fitness levels and mountain bikes. Interpretive signs, benches and a few shade ramadas dot the route, but there is no natural shade once you leave the trailhead—sun protection and water are essential. Because the path skirts sheer drop‑offs, keep children and pets on the inside edge.

History

1957
Manson Mesa cleared during Glen Canyon Dam construction.
1990s
Local runners and cyclists adopt the informal rim path.
2002
City of Page designates the loop as the 'Rim View Trail.'
2018
Trailhead kiosk, benches and signage installed.

Features

Dirt / fine‑gravel multi‑use path (hiking, running, MTB)
Benches & occasional shade ramadas
Interpretive geology & history panels
Scenic overlooks (some with guard rails)
Dog‑waste stations (bring your own bags)

Getting There

From US‑89, turn onto Lake Powell Blvd toward downtown Page. Turn north on South Navajo Drive, then right on Rim View Drive. Enter the Sports Complex lot; the Rim Trail kiosk is at the lot’s northeast corner.
