Description

Open each year from mid‑May to mid‑October, the North Rim Entrance Gate sits at 8,700 ft (2,650 m) on Arizona Highway 67. It is the only vehicular entry point to the North Rim, 31 miles (50 km) south of Jacob Lake and 14 miles (23 km) from Bright Angel Point. Rangers sell entrance passes, provide orientation material, and answer questions. Credit or debit cards are required—cash is not accepted. Outside the summer season the road is closed to vehicles, but hikers, cyclists, and snowshoers may enter on foot when conditions allow.

History

1926
AZ‑67 completed, giving motorists first access to the North Rim.
