Well maintained and you can't beat the location! Walking out at all hours of the day or night to see the views and the stars was phenomenal. The staff were so friendly. The room was clean. The beds were comfy. The food at the restaurants was great and the views and nostalgia were awesome! So convenient to everything. We went end of August and the weather was awesome and there were no crowds! Only complaint- add a microwave somewhere!
This wonderful hotel was located right within the Grand Canyon national Park, and on the edge of the south rim. We had a fantastic view from the moment we checked in and got to see the sunrise. The hotel is updated and was very comfortable. I would stay here again!
You are paying for the incredibly convenient location here – and, if you get one of the canyon-facing rooms, you're also paying for the view (though the view from the first floor rooms is actually pretty limited). The building and rooms are pretty dated. Nevertheless it was a great base camp for our family vacation to Grand Canyon, with everything in the area a short walk or shuttle ride away.
Total Dissapointment! The location of Kachina Lodge is absolutely fantastic — you can’t beat being right on the rim of the Grand Canyon. Unfortunately, the rooms do not live up to the setting, especially for the price. Ours was very dirty, with a layer of dust everywhere, chipped paint, slimy wall plates, bleach marks and holes in the bedspread cover, sticky film on the dresser, top and table, stained walls and doors. When I went to use the in-room coffee pot, it was so filthy it was unusable. This isn’t about the property being old — it’s about poor maintenance and cleanliness. The surroundings outside are breathtaking, but inside was a huge disappointment. On our next trip, we’ll enjoy the Grand Canyon again but will definitely choose a different hotel.
The rooms are basic, but certainly good enough. What is beyond amazing is the location and our Canyon side view. Having such easy access to grab a coffee and walk the rim trail first thing in the morning to watching the stars twinkle in the still beautiful sky at night. You cannot beat the location for the money!

Kachina Lodge features 49 contemporary guest rooms arranged in a long, low profile that mirrors the canyon’s horizontal layers. All rooms include either one king or two queen beds, full private bath, flat‑screen satellite TV, mini‑refrigerator, coffeemaker, in‑room safe, hair dryer, and climate control. Canyon‑side rooms look onto the South Rim; street‑side rooms face the historic district and railroad depot.
From South Entrance (Tusayan): Follow South Entrance Rd. 7 mi to Grand Canyon Village. Turn right on Village Loop Dr.; Kachina is the second lodge on the rim between El Tovar and Thunderbird. From Desert View (East) Entrance: Drive 25 mi west on Desert View Dr., turn left toward Grand Canyon Village, and follow signs to Village Loop Dr.
