Fantastic place to catch the sunset. We got here a little earlier than most and had a great view that didn't seem very popular, as it was just us there for the majority of the time. I sat right up next to the fence without issue and got some great photos. Highly recommend.
If you’re visiting the Grand Canyon, do not miss sunset at Hopi Point. It’s hands-down one of the most breathtaking spots on the South Rim to watch the sun dip behind the canyon walls. The panoramic views seem to stretch endlessly, and the colors—deep oranges, purples, and pinks—dance across the layered rock formations like a painting coming to life.I arrived about 30 minutes before sunset to grab a good spot, and the atmosphere was peaceful, almost reverent. There’s plenty of space to spread out, and the railings offer unobstructed views, perfect for photography or just soaking it all in. As the sun sank lower, the canyon lit up in warm hues and cast dramatic shadows that changed by the second.I highly recommend taking the park shuttle—it’s convenient, stress-free, and drops you right at the viewpoint without any hassle.Truly a magical moment and a memory I’ll never forget. If you see only one sunset at the Grand Canyon, make it from Hopi Point.
Hopi Point was recommended for sunset, we took a bus over and ate our packed dinner as the sun was setting. It was nice having a bathroom at this location. The park does a nice job with the bus transportation. There were a lot of people doing the same thing which I'm sure is happening there every night and transportation back to the village was very smooth. Plus we saw elk on the way back
After reading various reviews of best place for sunset 🌅 at the Grand Canyons, we tried our luck with Hopi Point. It is a truly breathtaking and spectacular view from there. Many areas to sit and enjoy the view. Loved it 😍
This prominent viewpoint situated on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon is located approximately four miles east of Grand Canyon Village and is one of those special places for sunrise and sunset viewing and photography. This point offers fantastic panoramic views of the Colorado River, as it carves its way through the canyon below. There is a vault toilet located east of the main viewing point and is serviced from March to November during the day by Park Services’ Shuttle Bus system, no private vehicles allowed will buses are in service.

Because the overlook faces due west, it is widely considered the premier sunset location in the park, while its unobstructed eastern view also makes sunrise impressive yet quieter.
Take the free Hermit Road / Red Route shuttle. Buses depart every 10–15 min from Grand Canyon Village and stop at Hopi Point. Private vehicles are allowed in winter.
