Why Visit Grand Canyon Caverns Inn

Grand Canyon Caverns Inn is a retro Route 66 motel with 48 rooms, an RV park, and the world-famous Cavern Suite—a hotel room 220 ft underground inside a dry limestone cave. The property is the overnight base for Grand Canyon Caverns tours and other Hualapai Plateau adventures.

Highlights

Cavern Suite – Sleep 220 ft below ground in the planet’s deepest hotel room.
Route 66 Nostalgia – Neon signage, classic cars, and a 1960s-era roadside diner.
On-site Cavern Tours – Guided elevator tours, ghost walks, and spelunking expeditions depart steps from your door.

Description

Opened in 1963 to serve motorists on America’s Mother Road, Grand Canyon Caverns Inn preserves its mid-century charm while adding modern comforts such as free Wi-Fi, a seasonal outdoor pool, and the Caverns Grill. Standard rooms face the desert plateau, while deluxe units overlook the pool. The show-stopper is the Cavern Suite, a 1,700 sq ft chamber 220 ft below the surface, marketed as the ‘largest, deepest, darkest hotel room in the world.’ Guests can also choose RV sites, tent camping, or a bunkhouse. The inn sits atop the Grand Canyon Caverns—one of the largest dry cave systems in the United States—making it a convenient base for cave tours, Route 66 sightseeing, and day trips to the South Rim, Havasupai Trailhead, or Colorado River rafting with the Hualapai Tribe.
