This trail is a fantastic loop hike that really surprised me. I loved the mix of gentle climbs and wide open views, it’s scenic without being too tough. The rock formations are beautiful and unique, especially the beehive shaped one the trail is named after.What I really appreciated was how quiet it was. Not too many people out there, which made it feel like a hidden gem. A solid, peaceful hike with great views the whole way, definitely one of my favorites in the area.
Really good views of lake mead and Glen canyon dam from this trail. The rock formations were amazing here and it was a very fun hike. It does loop around and id consider it a moderate hike just because it can be steep at times.
I guess it's a little over 3 miles. Sure didn't feel like it. But it's a nice little walkabout. Went clockwise. If you go counter, there is a little more scrambling.
Short pretty hike with interesting rock formations all around. We saw a few hikers but wasn’t crowded. Very peaceful and beautiful place to take a break in the shade and relax.
Warning: Do not drive to the sandy part of the dirt road at the end. You will get stuck. Unless you have an ATV. Otherwise, this place is a treat. Fun to play on the rocks. Enjoy!

Beehive Trail—also called the New Wave Loop—lies on a slickrock bench inside Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. Cairns mark the 1.5–1.9‑mile counter‑clockwise loop that circles rounded sandstone domes resembling old‑style beehives. Starting around 3,900 ft, the route climbs roughly 220 ft to panoramic viewpoints of Glen Canyon Dam, Wahweap Bay and the Vermilion Cliffs. Because the rock radiates heat, summer afternoons can be brutal; hikers should carry plenty of water and start early. Dogs are welcome on leash and cell service is generally reliable.
Car: From downtown Page, drive north on Lake Powell Blvd, merge onto US‑89 N, cross Glen Canyon Dam, then turn left at the signed Beehive Trailhead (≈3 mi, 5 min). Taxi/Rideshare: Page Shuttle and local taxis make the 10‑minute trip. RV/Bus: Oversize parking available at nearby Beehive Campground lot. No public transit.
