Description

Apache Stables has been introducing visitors to the Grand Canyon’s high‑country forest since the early 1980s. Rides follow historic stock paths through the Kaibab National Forest, an elevated plateau sitting 6,600 ft (2,010 m) above sea level. Trained wranglers match each guest to a sure‑footed horse or mule, share regional lore, and point out wildlife such as elk, mule deer, and Abert’s squirrels. Options range from a relaxed one‑hour loop to a two‑hour adventure that reaches quiet overlooks. At day’s end, sunset rides culminate with a wagon‑supported campfire where guests toast s’mores under star‑filled skies. Helmets are provided, weight limit is 250 lb (113 kg), and long pants with closed‑toe shoes are required.
