The Park Service has announced that beginning today (July 1, 2015) the South Rim walkway and stairs between the South Rim train depot and the historic El Tovar Hotel will be closed until repairs can be made. Construction is expected to be complete by October 31st. In the mean time, a detour will be in place to get visitors safely from the depot to the hotel. The detour is wheelchair and stroller accessible although it is longer and involves an uphill climb. You can read the full announcement here.
