Easter Sunrise Service on the South Rim has been a tradition since 1935. Millions of Americans experienced the Grand Canyon Easter Sunrise Service through their radios in the past. It is not uncommon to have attendance of 3,000-5,000 for an Easter Sunrise Service. Easter Sunrise Service takes place at 5:30 a.m. at Mather Point Overlook. Parking is available at the Visitor's Center Parking Lot. Participants should look for signs posted in the lodges for shuttle information and dress for cold and windy conditions.

  1. What time will the service be this year, will there be a speaker or music? Thank you in advance! This will be my first, and more than likely, only time i will have this expierence. Therefore is there anything i should know to make this the best ever experience? Thanks!

    GRAND CANYON EASTER SUNRISE SERVICE 2017

    (Grand Canyon, AZ) The Grand Canyon Community Church (GCCC) Board of Directors is pleased to announce their annual Easter Sunrise Service on the south rim of the Grand Canyon overlooking Mather Point.

    Now in its 82nd year up to 3,000 guests from all over the world have attended this spectacular event. “I can’t think of any place more beautiful to celebrate and worship the risen God in Jesus Christ than at the Grand Canyon,” said Reverend Dr. Spencer L. Lundgaard, who will be speaking at this years event, I am thrilled and privileged to speak at this unique location.”

    Members from Northern Arizona University (NAU) Shrine of the Ages choir will be performing classical worship hymns as well as a message from Reverend Lundgaard.

    The service will begin at 5:45 a.m. and last one hour. Parking will be available at the Visitors Center Parking lot. It is highly suggested that guests dress warm, as weather can be cold and windy. Volunteers will be available to direct traffic and answer any questions.
