Perched on the edge of the North Rim, the Grand Canyon Lodge welcomes visitors to relax and enjoy the quiet, serenity and cooler temperatures of the North Rim. The accommodations consist of cabins – both large and small as well as motel rooms. The cabins are very western, rustic and comfortable, some even have gas fireplaces but they are not luxurious. The lodge provides a restaurant, saloon, store and gift shop. (Please note: The Grand Canyon Lodge is closed from October 16th to May 14th Annually.)
Traveling along AZ-67, about 18 miles from the Grand Canyon rim, there is the Kaibab Lodge. This western lodge has a variety of cabins with a main lodge that includes a restaurant. The cabins are efficient and simple but offer a very homey and comfortable stay for visitors.
Jacob Lake is a very small community that includes the historic Jacob Lake Inn, founded in 1923 and still owned and operated by the same family. The Inn consists of a motel rooms and cabins as well as a restaurant, store and gift shop. The history of this area and in particular, the Jacob Lake Inn is fascinating and will add colorful flavor to a visitor’s “western experience.”
Kanab Utah is surrounded by some of the most exciting and breathtaking National Parks and Monuments of the western United States – Zion’s, Bryce Canyon, Grand Staircase Escalante, Monument Valley and of course, Grand Canyon. If you are exploring some of these other parks as you make your way to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, Kanab may be the best place to stay overnight. The scenery around Kanab is so beautiful that many movies have been filmed in this area, earning the nick-name “Little Hollywood.” You may recognize Stagecoach, The Lone Ranger, Gunsmoke, Planet of the Apes and The Outlaw Josey Wales to name a few. Page, AZ is almost the exact same distance from the North Rim as it is South Rim. So, if you stay in Page, you have the option of either of the Rims. Page is also situated right in the middle of some beautiful sites in the western US – The Grand Canyon, Lake Powell, Glen Canyon Dam, Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend.
