Colorado River Rafting Trip
Drive for an hour or more in the dark just to take a rafting trip? If you’re saying “no thanks” to that, you’ll say “thanks a bunch” to Grand Canyon Old West Jeep Tours! With Grand Canyon Old West Jeep Tours’ Colorado River Rafting Tour, families visiting Williams and Flagstaff can enjoy one of the Grand Canyon area’s most popular tours and get a decent night’s sleep.
Your day begins with pickup at 6:30 AM from Williams and 7:00 AM from Flagstaff . On your scenic 2-hour drive to Page Arizona, you’ll take in spectacular sights such as the Coconino National Forest and the Navajo Indian Reservation. Grand Canyon Old West Jeep Tours’ special mini-coaches are equipped with large windows and comfortable seats. Upon arriving in the small town of Page Arizona, you’ll be transported to the base of Glen Canyon Dam through a 2-mile tunnel blasted into the walls of Glen Canyon. Beforehand, you’ll receive your special bistro lunch packed in your very own keepsake souvenir tote, then board 22-passenger pontoon rafts for your 15-mile journey down the Colorado River!
One of the last remaining intact sections of Glen Canyon, this stretch of the Colorado River consists entirely of smooth water, which means that this trip can be enjoyed by virtually everyone who’d like to take part, including children as young as 4, and people of all physical fitness levels. As sandstone canyon walls rise higher and higher, keep your eyes peeled for birds such as eagles and hawks; at the shoreline, you might be lucky enough to spot a heron or bighorn sheep. Your trip consists of a short, easy walk to view a panel of ancient petroglyphs inscribed by the Ancestral Puebloans, and time to take a quick dip in the cool, clear Colorado River if you wish.
Your river trip ends at historic Lees Ferry, where your mini-coach waits for you, ready to make the return trip to Flagstaff or Williams. On the way back, you’ll stop at the historic Cameron Trading Post, a real old West commerce center where you may shop for souvenirs of your trip, or pick up a snack or beverages for the trip back to town.
Trip length is approximately 12 hours. Price includes all taxes, fuel surcharges, lunch, plus water and lemonade on the river. This tour is offered March 15th through October 15th. Grand Canyon Old West Jeep Tours keeps group sizes small for a more personalized experience, so be sure to book your seats well in advance.
